Peace Pilgram's Wisdom "It is considered the highest level of enlightenment to simply 'walk as you talk'—Peace Pilgrim lived out this message. Indeed, she is my here." Wayne W. Dyer (author of Your Scared Self and Your Erroneous Zones)
Her words shine like brilliant lights in my heart, and her life was as fine a statement of the Universal Spirit as I have ever encountered.John Robbins, author of Diet for a New America
I am one of many who have admired and emulated the life and wisdom of Peace Pilgrim. Here is an American saint who transcended all national, religious, or sectarian bonds to communicate love, understanding and integrity. Her life was her teaching.—Dan Millman, author of The Way of the Peaceful Warrior
"There is no doubt that she was letting God write the script of her life, every moment of every day."—Gerald Jampolsky, author of Love is Letting Go of Fear

Peace Pilgrim was America's own wandering sage. She walked the roads of North America for nearly three decades. From 1953 to 1981, this smiling, silver-haired woman, cheerfully penniless, walked alone, inspiring others to personal and social action, awakening in them a desire to work for peace, within themselves and on a global scale.

Born into a humble farm family in New Jersey, as she matured she voluntarily adopted a life of simplicity. She became the first woman to walk the length of the Appalachian Trail. On January 1, 1953, she took the Peace Pilgrim name and vowed "to remain a wanderer until mankind has learned the way of peace." She began walking, carrying her only possessions in the pockets of her tunic: a comb, a toothbrush, a ballpoint pen, copies of her message, and her current correspondence.

She never asked others for food or shelter, accepting them only when offered. She walked daily, bringing her message of peace to schools, churches, radio and TV stations, newspapers, and individuals she met in her travels.

In this book Cheryl Canfield has gathered 365 inspirational quotations from Peace Pilgrim, one for each day of the year. Space is also provided for the reader to jot down reflections of his/her own. The book is designed to help us integrate into daily life the powerful thoughts of his moving and luminous woman. Included are 20 line drawings by Rena Paradis, and anecdotes from Peace's own recollections of her travels.
